By Paul Freeman, For The Daily News, Author Lauren Oliver has enjoyed tremendous success with young adult literature, including the “Delirium” trilogy and a recently released novel, “Panic,” which has already been optioned for a movie adaptation by Universal Pictures, Now she’s about to establish a new readership with her adult novel debut, the dance planner stickers - ballet shoes icons, 48 dance class reminder stickers, ballerina, lessons, rehearsal, show tracking, ecl riveting “Rooms.” When a wealthy man dies, his estranged family — crumbling ex-wife, damaged teenaged son and struggling daughter, who has a child of her own — gather at the deceased’s old country house, The house is inhabited by ghosts, who have their own painful truths to confront, Lauren’s vivid, eloquently told tale is haunting, in more ways than one..

The spark for “Rooms” came to Oliver when she was visiting a friend’s family estate in England three summers ago. “A very weird old manor house,” Oliver says. “We were there for a party, so there were lots of different kinds of people there. And the house itself was filled with many artifacts from their travels, like a suit of armor wearing a feather boa. So it got me thinking. The idea came to me to write about a family assembled in a big, old house, trying to sort through all these artifacts of their childhood.

“It took me quite a while to think of the narrative perspective, which was really central to the idea, I ended up kind of writing two separate novels, I was trying to write the story of this family with all its problems, And I was simultaneously trying to dance planner stickers - ballet shoes icons, 48 dance class reminder stickers, ballerina, lessons, rehearsal, show tracking, ecl write about a ghost that has inhabited these walls, It took me a while to realize that they are the same book.”, Having the two realms mingle was the key, “The ghost story alone was too confined, But the story of the family itself wasn’t special — stories of squabbling families who re-descend to their ancestral homes are a dime a dozen, And I couldn’t understand what the heart of the story was and why we were focusing on that particular family at that particular time, Having the two work together is what opened up the whole book.”..
