The rumba by Sadie and Mark stood out for its subdued passion, and for the way Mark choreographed the routine to fit with the concerns of Sadie and her family and how it showed the skills of his partner without shining a spotlight on himself (as he often does). Bruno called Sadie, “a really sparkling, little jewel of a dancer,” and Pitbull felt the dance was believable. At the good score of 35, including a 10 from Pitbull, Sadie burst into tears. Bethany and Derek had a total of seven hours to rehearse, due to a flight to Australia that Bethany was obligated to do. But the routine was a great tango and came within an eyelash (or a slip by Bethany near a light) of getting all 10s. Bruno said it was “straight down the line pure tango” and Julianne called it “pure, honest, good tango.”.

Coming close to the top was the salsa by Antonio Sabato Jr, and Cheryl Burke, They had to battle to focus after Cheryl learned that her dad was in the hospital, Antonio was there to support her, but they managed to bring Antonio out of himself and to have fun while dancing, Carrie Ann advised him to keep letting the music move him, I did not like the salsa of Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev, It just didn’t seem like Lea and it was like she was forcing herself clear swarovski crystal ballerina slippers ballet dance shoes pendant necklace christmas gift new to do something, anything to be better than Alfonso, Carrie Ann and Julianne were both disappointed in the routine, but they still gave them 8s, Oh well..

Hats off to Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater, who were in jeopardy but were safe to dance next week. They performed an Argentine tango that the judges agreed was one of his best dances. The routine only got a score of 30, but that was their highest score of the season. Looks like the NASCAR nation is getting behind their man!!. Len will be back next week to take his place at the judges’ table, and I, for one, will be delighted to see him and hear his comments. He adds a certain proper note to the dance show. See you next week — keep dancing.

Winner of the 1961 Tony Award for best musical, “Bye clear swarovski crystal ballerina slippers ballet dance shoes pendant necklace christmas gift new Bye Birdie” has music by Charles Strouse (“Annie”), lyrics by Lee Adams and dialogue by Michael Stewart (“Hello, Dolly!”), It’s nominally about Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley clone played by Mackenszie Drae with pricelessly preening sleaziness, But Birdie’s barely even a speaking part in the show, The real stars of the show are his neurotic, workaholic manager and all-around handler, Albert Peterson (a pleasantly goofy Robert Lopez), who’s always struggling to preserve Birdie’s wholesome image in spite of … well, everything about him, and Albert’s long-suffering secretary and neglected girlfriend, Rosie Alvarez, who’s been waiting for eight years for him to quit the music business, become an English teacher and marry her..

Nicole Helfer’s Rosie is a highlight, charming and powerfully voiced and clearly way too good for Albert, despite the fact that a couple of her big song and dance numbers uncomfortably play up the Latina stereotypes of the 1950s, when Latinos were just called “Spanish.” This is all in response to the casual racism of Albert’s mother, a constantly kvetching martyr played by Ali Lane with scene-stealing sly passive aggression. The basic setup is that Birdie has been drafted into the army, and Rosie has dreamed up a publicity stunt that he’ll give “one last kiss” to a fan chosen at random before he ships off. The accompanying single, “One Last Kiss,” is supposed to be a hit big enough to let Albert quit the biz and marry Rosie already. The stunt leads them to the quiet small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio, where precocious teenager Kim (a bright and sweet-voiced Olivia Hytha) has been chosen to receive the kiss. Kim tries to be sophisticated now that she’s all grown up at 15, much to the aggravation of her grumpy dad (Scott Phillips, whose shameless photobombing when the TV cameras are on is a hoot) and giddy mom (Suzie Shepard).

Director Christina Lazo, who’s also responsible for the fun and energetic choreography for the large ensemble, really plays up the period setting, Kelly James Tighe’s ever-changing set is dominated by pastel Mondrian patterns, and costumer Hope Birdwell clothes Birdie well in some memorably flashy Elvis-like outfits, Aside from the credible Elvis parody “One Last Kiss,” the songs are on the fluffy or schmaltzy side, delivered clear swarovski crystal ballerina slippers ballet dance shoes pendant necklace christmas gift new smoothly by the orchestra directed by Matt Smart and the large ensemble (despite some uneven audibility in Some More Sound’s miking on opening night), Probably the best known song to come out of the show is “Put on a Happy Face,” but among the catchiest is the griping parents’ lament “Kids,” sung with gusto by Kim’s family (including dynamic fifth-grader J.D, Cerruti as a little brother overeager to join the curmudgeonly older generation), Still, perhaps the most memorable ditty is also the one you’d most wish to get out of your head — the cloying teen girl squad anthem “We Love You Conrad.”..

The same cannot be said for Dylan as a performer. Opinions vary wildly about this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s live shows. Some storm out of his venues ticked that Dylan didn’t play anything that sounded even remotely like his classic studio recordings. Others dig his daring rearrangements, applauding his willingness to take old favorites in new directions. He’s also known as a wildly inconsistent performer, who can be brilliant one night and blah the next. And then, of course, there is the matter of his voice, which clearly isn’t for everyone.

Dylan doesn’t care, The 73-year-old icon keeps adding more dates to his so-called Never Ending Tour, which touches down for a three-night stand — Oct, 28-30 — at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, In honor of the great songwriter’s return to the Bay Area, we asked musicians and music lovers clear swarovski crystal ballerina slippers ballet dance shoes pendant necklace christmas gift new to share their memories of Dylan in concert, “He’s such a character,” says Carney, “I think a lot of people expect him to be doing exact reproductions of the arrangements of his hits, I think the most interesting thing about him is that he doesn’t do that at all, He’s the guy who wrote the songs, He should be able to play them any way he wants..
