We’ve fulfilled our obligations as parents and now our kids are on their way, wherever that may lead, Our lace low heels shoes, ivory almost flat heel,1/2 inch heel, lace flats, satin flowers, ballet slipper, low heel pump, closed toe son is in his first semester of freshman year of college in Southern California, We dropped him off in August and because he’s a boy, we didn’t hear much from him until we saw him during Family Weekend in October, From what he says and the few photos we’ve seen, he seems to be doing great, if “great” means spending more time having fun than studying, Nothing to worry about there..

Our daughter is in her final year of college in Northern California. She’s living in a house with 15 others. Many of them are environmental science or sustainable agriculture majors. They grow vegetables in their front yard and have a chicken coop. Officially, it’s called the Turtle House, but I call it the Commune. We visited her a couple weeks ago on the day a few of her housemates slaughtered a rooster. Apparently, they’re not all vegetarians as one might have suspected. I wonder if they know about e. coli. Nothing to worry about there, either.

Yes, it went by fast, just like the wise ones said it would, Of course, you don’t believe them when you’re trying to get the hang of cloth diapers and end up going back to disposables two weeks later, yelling at the boys on your soccer team to lace low heels shoes, ivory almost flat heel,1/2 inch heel, lace flats, satin flowers, ballet slipper, low heel pump, closed toe stop chasing each other with sticks and concentrate on the dribbling drill you’re forcing them to endure, and arguing with your teenager to quit Facebooking, YouTubing, Redditing, Tmblring, Spotifying and texting and get to bed, goshdarnit..

But the really amazing thing is that we actually pulled it off. Raising kids is an awesome, life and death responsibility we were blatantly unqualified for. Someone should have vetted us more thoroughly, or least told us what we were getting into. For instance. From birth to kindergarten, the main focus is keeping your kids clean and alive. It’s exhausting, messy and stressful work. But man, they’re adorable. And there’s nothing like having a freshly bathed baby fall asleep on your shoulder in your easy chair during Monday Night Football.

The next five years or so is the parenting sweet spot, Your kids think you’re the best and can beat up any other dad, You can make up all sorts of crap and lace low heels shoes, ivory almost flat heel,1/2 inch heel, lace flats, satin flowers, ballet slipper, low heel pump, closed toe they’ll believe you, It’s more fun to watch movies with them because they don’t all have to be animated, and they only make you watch each movie once, They make birthday cards with drawings of flowers and sports equipment that say you’re the best parent in the world, Then in middle school, your parental influence nosedives as their friends take over, Whatever foundations you’ve helped them lay to this point, construction is now in the hands of dubious subcontractors you are mostly powerless to hire and fire, But it’s fun having a back yard full of tweens playing badminton, splashing in the pool and having watermelon seed-spitting contests..
